Buying a laptop soon..

Hey all, I'm buying a laptop soon for college and I was wondering what are the basic requirements needed to play MS smoothly? I read somewhere 4GB of ram or something? I don't have a lot of money to spend, so can't go for the expensive ones. :(

Also, can any UK/Irish people suggest a cheap place to get a laptop? :) Thanks!

I have a 4GB RAM laptop, and it runs maple perfectly. Even 2gb would be good, as long as you have good internet though. I understand that you can buy a 4gb laptop at some places for as low as $700 USD.

Thanks! But I'm in Ireland so it's euros here.
I checked some out yesterday and saw some 3 GB RAM laptops in my price range so hopefully works.
I'll look into 4GB RAM laptops or is it possible to upgrade a 3GB RAM to a 4 GB RAM?

Check Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 with 4GB ram, that's should be good choice for you.

I have a 1GB xp computer with low intergrated graphics and it runs very smooth. Maple doesn't require much power. 2GB is all you really need to run without a single lag. Try getting a good graphics too.

Depends on what kind of laptop it is. Some laptops don't allow RAM slot upgrades. You should ask an employee if the laptop you want to buy is available for a RAM Card upgrade. Like I said before, even 2GB would be good.

i bought an acer 5536 laptop, has got 3gb ram , windows vista, and a AMD athlon X2. runs maple perfect no problem, just a side note it also plays oblivion with no lag.. cost me about £400 without norton
